Requirements for Livestreaming Video on Your Computer

1. What is a Chi Center Livestreaming Video Class?

The Chi Center Livestreaming Video Class allows you to learn and practice your Qigong with Mingtong Gu in the comfort of your home or work. Master Gu will be teaching each class in the series live to students living throughout the world. The broadcast includes video and audio real-time streaming that can be viewed on your computer desktop or laptop.

2. How do I access and watch the class?

When you sign up and submit payment, you will receive a confirming email. Two days prior to the series start you will receive an email with an access link and instructions for when and how you can view the broadcast.

3. Is my internet connection fast enough?

The ability to view the class video in optimum quality is dependent upon the speed of your internet connection. Video streaming requires a fast connection, so the best connection is a broadband internet connection (either cable or DSL).

Wireless connections may or may not work depending on how fast they are.  For those with wireless connections, we recommend that you connect directly to your router with an ethernet cable connection if that is possible (rather than using wireless). If wireless is the only option, then you can try it out the first night of the class and see if it works. If it doesn't work, the video and audio are not smooth, then you can request a refund.

We recommend a minimum download bandwidth of at least 1.0 Mbps for a smooth playback experience. You can test your bandwidth download speed here (click on "begin test"). Bandwidth fluctuates constantly, especially on WiFi and mobile networks, so running  three tests is recommended.

You can also try viewing the class using lower bandwidth options, including 3G and 4G networks.

4. Is my computer fast enough and operating system recent enough?

Live streaming works on a Mac or PC.  The streaming will work best on a newer computer (less than 5 years old).

Mac: G4 or Intel Processor, 512 MB RAM; Mac OSX v10.4 or newer;

PC: 1GHz processor with 512MB RAM (2GB for Vista); Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

5.  What internet browser do I need?

Video streaming is compatible with most major browsers on most major operating systems. We recommend upgrading your browser whenever possible to the most recent version. Please make sure to enable cookies and turn off pop-up blockers when watching video streaming.

6. How do I know if I have Adobe Flash Player installed?

The Adobe Flash Player plugin is required.  The latest version is recommended. You can download the Adobe Flash Player plugin or check your current version here

7. What if I'm not sure about my computer's connection, speed or browsers?

You are welcome to sign up and try the first class. If the video quality streaming is not acceptable, then you can request a refund. Please request all refunds prior to the second class.  Contact the office.

8. Is there anything else I need to enjoy the class online?

We recommend you get a pair of external speakers or a headset with a long cord.  Laptop and desktop speakers are often not big enough or don't provide very good audio quality so consider getting a set of external speakers that plug into your computer.  Even a decent $20 pair will likely improve the quality of the audio experience.

9. When should I sign up for the course?

We recommend you sign up right away to reserve your spot and to be scheduled to receive the access code link.

10. What if none of my questions are addressed here?

Please contact The Chi Center Technical Support by emailing us here.
