Acceptance and Activation

A sharing from from Mingtong’s teaching at the Spring 2012 Angela Center Retreat

Acceptance is to continuously cultivate our capacity to unconditionally accept and embrace all sensation inside of us. Not just mental or emotional acceptance, but whole body acceptance. Position your story in Ocean of Light.

When coming back from Ocean of Light, visualize your desire to activate new energy, new possibility, new action. This is a continual process. Then accept what you feel from what you activated. Just like the chicken and the egg, it’s a continuous cycle - accept/Ocean of Light/activate - moving forward toward Oneness, Wholeness, and undifferentiated harmony.

Three Suggestions:
1. Let go old perceptions, old stories, the old relationship with the body (often distant, often separate). Think of the Ocean of Light as the ultimate refuge.

2. Whenever you’re feeling challenge, symptoms, emotional resistance, or discomfort in body, DEEPLY ACCEPT them. Move your body, whether sitting or doing formal practice. Make sounds quietly, visualizing the new energetic. View this as an opportunity to make deeper change.

3. Whenever you have a reaction, a negative response to your circumstances, start making positive energetic copy. When you hear someone coughing, instead of thinking that's bad or negative energy, make new healing copy, visualizing clear healthy happy lungs for the person. By doing so, you are activating the healing energetic structure. Your own lungs become healthier and stronger. Focus on relaxing in Ocean of Light, no matter how much you can or cannot do in practice. Make your best effort in practice to a comfortable challenge, diligently, continually practicing. Give 100% to the formal practice. Equally important is informal practice. It activates the healing energy inside you.
